Photos of a Nissan GT-R have been circulating on the internet for several months now. The images were captured from the German track Nurburgring with the car sporting different rims and chassis works. It has been confirmed that it is the Nissan GT-R SpecV.
The super car from Nissan is expected to hit the Japanese market by February. Total weight of the GT-R package has been dramatically reduced courtesy of carbon fiber used for both interior and exterior works.
The great looks of the spoiler, the grille, and the brake ducts are all because of the carbon fiber used. Inside the speed monster, the rear seats have been removed and the front passengers will be fastened to a lightweight Recaro bucket seats made of carbon fiber. Trimmings for the dashboard and back compartments are also produced from the scale friendly material.
Nissan designers boast that the SpecV is lighter by 132 pounds than the ordinary Nissan GT-R.
The power plant under the hood is not 40 horsepower more as rumored before but the base of the twin turbo charged 3.8L engine is at 480 horse power.
To perk the engine more, the engineers of the Japanese car maker added a new set of high-gear boost that adds about 15 lbt-ft when the engine roars from a mid speed to an extremely demanding situation. The extra power from 3500 rpm to 5000 rpm is not an issue for the SpecV.
The Nissan work of art is also equipped with Nismo wheels, brake system made of carbon ceramic, and an exhaust coated with titanium. Aside from careful suspension tuning, the brakes help in reducing weight by as much as 11 pounds in the corners of the car.
Car lovers will remain drooling at this car. Only 20 to 30 units of this black opal machine will be rolled out every month. No official word when the SpecV will hit the US market but the sticker on the car reads around $170000.
